About Us

Our mission is simple: to record original talented local musicians and to produce quality music for the world platform of digital entertainment.

Most of our artists write and perform their own material and we provide commercial songs for others to use.

Our artists cover many genres from blues-rock, pop, country, to folk and easy listening, and our production is in tune with contemporary techniques.

We also specialise in writing bespoke music for movies and can write anthemic songs to help deliver the theme of the story. We can write songs for specific artists, to their brief.

History

Gravel Track Records is run and owned by Duncan LeFeuvre. Since his early teens, Duncan had a passion for both engineering and music. He began his musical development at the age of 5 on the piano, then, after the obligatory spell on the recorder, took up the clarinet and became lead clarinetist in a number of youth orchestras, before swopping it for a guitar…never to look back! He and his brother Steve, played in bands throughout the 60’s and 70’s and began writing & recording their own songs in their teens.

Duncan also developed his interest in engineering and design by becoming an apprentice at Stannah Lifts. In 1979 he was appointed MD. He retired in 2007 and began to build his long cherished dream to run a well-equipped recording studio; to discover talented new, and original artists  with whom he could find some synergy and common ground of creativity.

Currently

Gravel Track Records  sponsors a few carefully selected local artists and assists them with their promotional activities.

Duncan now runs Gravel Track Records and Studio as a self-funded organisation, and has helped a number of up-and-coming recording artists to get off to a good start.

We are  based in the New Forest, in southern England, where the surroundings provide a unique ambience for assisting the creative musical process. The studio boasts state-of-the-art equipment,  a live room,  and an unrivalled bucolic view. We believe in having the right environment to facilitate our artists' creative vision.

You can hear some of our work on this site and you could help some of our artists by buying their music from iTunes or Amazon etc. They would appreciate any support you can offer...?

We've had airplay on a few BBC local radio stations and many independent radio stations including Forest FM, Express FM and Hope FM, and have helped raise funds for Help for Heroes with a song written about the war effort in Afghanistan called Far Horizon, by Mark Vennis and Different Place. You could download it now from iTunes...?

Influences/gigs

You may occasionally find Duncan still playing his guitar and enjoying the thrill of live entertainment with his good friends Martin Lennon, Roy Andrews, Steve Godfrey, Dave Phillips and his brother Steve. They use the well established band name of Silver Machine and play mainly for private functions and an occasional pub gig. Their influences are drawn from the well of classic rock-The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Status Quo, Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, T-Rex, Chris Rea, The Eagles, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix to name but a few.
